Shades of grey dominate in 2016

PETALING JAYA: The home decorating trend for 2016 will lean towards understated elegance – with muted earth tones for the walls and the personality of the home owners are shown through accessorising, says the interior design firm owner with 20 years’ experience.

“Greyish or grey-brown tones for the walls and to add some brightness, throw in colourful pillows or rugs,” said Adrian Wee, principal of Impression Design & Contracts Sdn Bhd.

“Maybe one single-seat sofa or chair in a bright colour to give the room a striking look, but for the rest of the furniture, choose a muted colour.”

Wee said the “main actor” in a room should be the accessories, with modern, contemporary design being the current favourite.

“More squarish furniture, clean, crisp lines with neutral colours,” he suggested.

Floors with a glossy finish are then used as a contrast.

Wee said home decorating trends were catching up fast with styles copied from other countries.

He said Perfect Livin’ was one of his avenues to check out the newest trends in interior design.

“I go to Perfect Livin’ for inspiration because the exhibitors (for interior design) there bring in the latest designs,” he said.

For Perfect Livin’ visitors, they can expect to be showered with gifts and rewards during the four-day exhibition.

“We want to reward our customers for their continuous support,” said exhibition organiser i.Star ideas factory director of business development and corporate communications Jason Yap.

“Every registered visitors is in the running for the Fly Me to Italy contest where a selected winner will receive two return air tickets.”

The first 1,000 visitors registered daily will get a Perfect Livin’ Reusable Coffee Cup for free.

“The welcome gift that made its debut this year comes in different colour combinations,” said Yap.

“Various exhibitors will also offer irresistible discounts and promotions for their products and services, exclusively for this exhibition.”

Visitors who spend RM1,000 are guaranteed a gift and they will also be in the running for the Purchase and Win contest.

Selected winners of the Purchase and Win contest will get one of the 17 prizes worth RM400,000, including jacuzzi spa, Dijon900 king size mattress, BWT outdoor water filters, Hilker queen size, Fotile kitchen hood and RM5,000 Rowenda kitchen vouchers.

Perfect Livin’ 15 home and lifestyle exhibition will be held at Putra World Trade Centre from tomorrow until Nov 15. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm. Admission is free.
