KOTA KEMUNING: Property developer Gamuda Land today topped off the much-anticipated Quayside Mall, which is on track to open its doors on June 1, 2020.

Set to add vibrancy to the avant-garde twentyfive.7 township in Kota Kemuning, the topping off ceremony signifies the structural completion of the Quayside Mall as well as 699,290 safe man-hours recorded.

“There is no negotiation on the opening date,” affirmed Gamuda Land chief operating officer Aw Sei Cheh. “At Gamuda Land, we are guided by sincerity, committed to act responsibly and motivated by originality in all we do. What truly differentiates our developments is our mindful town-making principles.

“One of them is getting the places right to make the town work. Beyond location, design and quality of our developments, we also invest upfront in strategic placemaking and advance completion of infrastructure as well as public spaces, including the Quayside Mall, the central park and lakes, providing long term value creation for the community,” he said.

The township is a 257-acre integrated mixed development that celebrates vibrant community living distinguished by the Quayside Mall, The Buzz.ar, a community hangout open space, a central park with lakes, jogging and cycling paths and mindfully designed homes that are spacious with a practical layout.

“We think not just of the working adults, the children and the retirees, but people from all walks of life because we know that a home is not just a roof over a head, it is about the family that lives in it, which can be multigenerational,” said Aw

“So, when we plan our towns, we think not only the home place but also the work place, shopping place, eating place, play place, park place and learning place,” he said.

Present at the ceremony wereGamuda Land leasing, retail and malls director Herbie Tan, twentyfive.7 general manager Chu Wai Lune and Kuala Langat District Council development planning director Arpaai Sanat.

Biggest mall in the vicinity

Envisioned as a lifestyle mall with 107 retail outlets spread over 328,153 sq.ft net lettable area and about 1,300 car park bays, the Quayside Mall will be the biggest mall in Kota Kemuning, said Tan.

The mall is projected to cater to 15,000 population when the township is fully completed in 2030, as well as the current and growing population of approximately 871,000 from the surrounding areas within a 10km radius.

“To us, malls are not just retail spaces. Malls can be experiential spaces filled with various entertainment, services and activities that enhance the overall shopping experience. We have put in much thought and research into the planning, design construction as well as positioning of the mall.

“Positioned as a ‘çommunity curator’, a good tenancy mix was carefully established to include popular F&B outlets, bars, beauty and wellness, cinema, fitness centre and more,” said Tan.

Good occupancy

Currently, Gamuda Land has secured 70% occupancy rate with about 40 tenants. Most notably, Quayside Mall will house MBO Cinemas, the only cinema in the vicinity to fill in the gap for prime family entertainment.

It has also been confirmed that MBO will take up 45,000 sq ft of space with nine halls and approximately 1,500 seats, he said, adding that the other anchor tenant is Jaya Grocer, which will be occupying 25,000 sq ft to 30,000 sq ft.

A third anchor tenant, yet to be revealed, is a furniture-related enterprise, he said. This tenant is expected to take up 38,000 sq ft.
