PETALING JAYA: In an era where community-focused developments are increasingly valuable, the partnership between property developer Gamuda Land and Taylor’s Education Group (Taylor’s) sets a promising example of what is possible when two industries unite for a shared vision.

With Taylor’s first affordable school set to open in Gamuda Gardens and another planned for Gamuda Cove, this alliance addresses a significant challenge for many families - affordable, nearby private schooling with an internationally oriented curriculum. 

By integrating such an educational facility directly within residential communities, Gamuda Land is not only adding value to its properties but also creating a strong educational foundation that attracts residents, enhancing the appeal of its developments. 

Gamuda Land chief executive officer Chu Wai Lune told StarProperty that the property developer was investing RM30mil to RM40mil to build a purpose-built school to cater to Taylor’s specifications as well as an initial population of about 850 students.

For Taylor’s, the partnership offers the chance to bring their well-respected educational model to more families without the need for costly standalone facilities, making private education accessible to a wider demographic.

Taylor’s chairman Datuk Loy Teik Ngan said: “At Taylor’s, we believe every child deserves access to quality education. Through this partnership with Gamuda Land, we can bring our international standards of education to a broader audience, empowering more families to give their children the tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Our schools will focus on cultivating lifelong learners, instilling a sense of community responsibility and equipping students with critical thinking skills for tomorrow’s challenges.”

A symbiotic model 

From a more holistic viewpoint, property developers benefit greatly from proximity to quality schools, as access to good education is a top priority for many home buyers. The availability of reputable schools in residential areas can drive demand, increase property values and create long-term community loyalty. 

By partnering with Taylor’s, Gamuda Land is enhancing the appeal of its townships as family-friendly, self-sufficient communities where families have access to top-quality education close to home.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s stands to gain from the infrastructure and resources that the property developer has to offer as it avoids the substantial costs that typically come with standalone campuses such as land acquisition and infrastructure. 

Additionally, sharing existing amenities such as sports facilities, green spaces and recreational areas benefits students while lowering operational costs. This partnership is designed to ensure these resources enrich the student experience, while also making private education more affordable by offsetting infrastructure expenses.

A blueprint for the future

As the demand for private education rises in Malaysia, challenges around cost, location and facility access have become barriers for many families. Recognising these challenges, Gamuda Land and Taylor’s are developing a model that lowers these obstacles. 

The school in Gamuda Gardens, the first project under this collaboration, will offer an internationally-aligned curriculum with an emphasis on holistic development. This means a balanced focus on academics, sports, arts and character-building, equipping students with the skills needed for the interconnected world of tomorrow. 

To enrich students' experiences beyond the classroom, Gamuda Gardens’ residents, including students, will have access to extensive facilities such as an Olympic-length swimming pool, sports courts, lakes and parks.
