PETALING JAYA: Property developer Gamuda Land and Malaysia’s 5G Single Wholesale Network Digital Nasional Bhd have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand 5G service coverage and infrastructure within Gamuda Land townships, among others.
Chief operating officer Jess Teng said at the MoU signing ceremony that the collaboration paves the way for the development of smart cities in Gamuda townships namely Gamuda Cove @ Kuala Langat, Gamuda Gardens @ Sungai Buloh North and twentyfive7 @ South of Kota Kemuning.
“Recognising the critical role of 5G technology, our strategic partnership with DNB becomes a catalyst for realising our smart city vision. Together, we aspire to craft interconnected and innovative townships, harnessing the power of 5G to elevate the living experience for our residents.
“Additionally, the integration of 5G connected smart grids will enhance energy efficiency in our townships, promising a significant reduction in overall energy consumption for long-term sustainability,” said Teng.
DNB chief strategy officer Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid said that 5G adoption is accelerating in Malaysia, where as many as 8.2 million have signed for 5G service subscriptions as of Dec 2023.
“5G is undeniably the key to the future of smart cities and townships. We look forward to supporting Gamuda Land’s smart township aspirations,” he said.
Also present at the MoU signing were Gamuda Land chief executive officer Chu Wai Lune and DNB enterprise strategy head Prem Menon Kumar.
