GAMUDA COVE: Alongside the launch of Townsquare Park, Gamuda Land officially launches L’Occitane Malaysia's L’Occitane Garden in the Gamuda Cove nature sanctuary.
“We have successfully developed over 1,600 acres of green and waterscapes across 12 urban forest clusters, and we are on track to meet our 2,000-acre target by 2025. These thoughtful spaces are designed not just as lush environments to foster community cohesion but also double as vital ecological assets, serving as natural cooling zones, carbon storage, and rainwater runoff sponges in our collective battle against climate change,” Gamuda Land executive director Khariza Abd Khalid said.
“Together, as a dynamic partnership, we leverage our respective strengths and expertise to make a meaningful impact on environmental conservation and sustainable living in Malaysia community and beyond,” L’Occitane SEA and India group general manager Elida Wong said.
Townsquare Park spans six acres, consisting of flower beds, native trees and seating for visitors. The garden is expected to attract various species of pollinators, contributing to the local ecosystem. The park is connected to Gamuda Cove’s first commercial property development, Townsquare, set for vacant possession this year.
"Our garden aims to cultivate a passion for sustainable living and deepen environmental appreciation among Malaysians. Embark with us on this enriching journey into the heart of nature, nestled within this beautiful township. Together with Gamuda Land, who shares our unwavering commitment to preserving biodiversity and reducing waste, let's make a positive impact on our environment and inspire change for a more sustainable future,” L’Occitane Malaysia communications and corporate social responsibility (CSR) senior manager Clarance Boo said.
The launch occurred in conjunction with the International Day for Biological Diversity. Gamuda Land hosted festive activities such as hot air balloon rides, upcycling workshops, clay-making classes, horse riding, a bazaar and more.
Gamuda Land chief operating officer Jess Teng was also present at the event.
