THE Own It programme, a home ownership transformation programme by StarProperty.my and Propwall.my, had a successful forum at Tropicana Metropark’s Property Gallery last Saturday.
The two speakers were IQI Holdings vice-president of financial education Alexander Woo, and Nick and Alex from Nu Infinity.
Woo spoke on “Important must-know basics of property investment” and he shared about his first property purchase, at the tender age of 22.
That initial transaction did not reap much profit but instead of viewing it as a setback, it only fuelled him to do better.
Deciding to help young people like himself, he aimed to encourage and educate young adults about key basics, namely why real estate is the way forward, current issues that affect property prices, common mistakes and pitfalls that investors make as well as how to think and profit like savvy investors.
“Buying a property is one of the best ways to hedge against inflation, grow your wealth and leverage up to buy more property,” he said.
He went on to state that property prices would keep appreciating over time, so the best moment to buy was now, making sure that the property was always below the market value.
The second talk was titled “Design: Small is the new big”.
Speakers Nick and Alex from Nu Infinity were on hand to talk about the best ways to make the most out of small spaces with cleverly constructed storage solutions.
Some of the ingenious ideas presented included storage cupboards and shelves under the staircase, foldable window blinds that opened out into hanging racks for clothes, as well as jewellery holders located behind paintings.
They even suggested placing a mezzanine level to be used as a storage area, mini library or spare bedroom.
“Interior designing is our passion and it is not so much about money.
“We aim to help people achieve a comfortable home that has plenty of flexibility within confined spaces, as units are now getting smaller because of affordability issues,” said Nu Infinity director Alex Lee.
Visitors to the forum were also able to check out the latest project at Tropicana Metropark – Midori Flexi Suite with built-up ranging from 435 to 798 sq ft and priced from RM350,000.
Nur Farhana Zulkifflin, one of the forum’s visitors, was actually interested in the suite as her second property and came across the programme.
“When I read about the speakers and the topics they were going to present, I was looking forward to attending it at the Property Gallery,” she enthused.
Another visitor, Cheng Bun Kim, who discovered the forum through the StarProperty.my pullout said, “Being a seasoned investor myself, I noted that the first speaker gave informative facts, especially for first-time property buyers.
The second talk also gave great ideas on how to fully maximise small spaces, which is useful for urban layouts,” she said. Cheng is also the winner of the FlexibleLove chair which is worth RM1,385.
Next week’s Own It forum at Tropicana Metropark’s Property Gallery will see two speakers, Khalil Adis and Alexander Woo, present “What types of properties are hot right now and what’s right for you” and “How to spot a good property deal and are you ready to purchase” respectively.
