KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects WCT, IOI Properties, SP Setia, Boustead Heavy Industries Corp (BHIC) and Stemlife to be among the stocks to watch on Thursday.
It said WCT won the RM896.41mil V204 work package of MRT 2, which involves the construction of a viaduct guideway and other associated works from Bandar Malaysia's south portal to Kampung Muhibbah in Kuala Lumpur.
As for IOI Properties, the group submitted a S$2.57 billion (about RM7.7bil) bid for a 1.09ha tract in Singapore's Central Boulevard.
JF Apex Research pointed out SP Setia won the tender to purchase a 1,675-acre piece of land at Seberang Perai Utara, Penang, for RM620mil.
StemLife's 1QFY17 net profit fell 26.8% on-year to RM1.04mil mainly due to extraordinary gains from reversal of over-provision in prior year's tax and settlement of legal suit.
BHIC’s 3QFY16 net profit almost quadrupled to RM14.88mil from a year ago, thanks to ongoing transformation initiative to tighten operational efficiencies coupled with a strong focus on its core businesses and competencies.
Overnight on Wall Street, US markets rallied, led by healthcare and financial counters after Donald Trump won the presidential election. European stocks reversed intraday losses to post sharp gains after the investors digested the outcome of the US election.
On the local market, the FBM KLCI fell 16.20 points to 1,647.62 points.
“Following the bullish performance in the US and Europe, the FBM KLCI could follow suit and stage a rebound after testing its support of 1,645 yesterday.
“Global markets remain to be choppy with uncertainty over US policies on trade, economy and diplomacy,” it said.
