WHEN choosing property, factors like location, dimensions, connectivity and accessibility are what buyers consider when buying or renting.
How would you know if your chosen home suits you? Environology Dot Com Sdn Bhd partner Stephen Chin will discuss how to select the right home based on feng shui guidelines at the upcoming StarProperty.my roadshow, from July 28 to 30 at Atria Shopping Gallery from 10am to 10pm.
“A common misconception about feng shui is that it involves placing objects and images of deities, animals and a list of do’s and don’ts to ward off harmful forces.
“This is far from the truth as historically, feng shui practitioners never applied such practices. This misunderstanding has caused feng shui to lose its credibility among the modern western-educated groups,” said Chin.
A simple guide on how to pick the right home based on surrounding landforms and terrain in accordance with one’s date of birth will also be provided at the roadshow.
He said the “forces at work” are commonly referred to as “qi” based on ancient Chinese philosophy, divided into three parts – cosmic, earthly and human “energy”.
Based on current scientific knowledge, these forces are from cosmic bodies, geological factors and human influences.
“It is a fact that there are forces around us which influence our thoughts and behaviour. The solution is to understand and adapt to them.
“I will explain this in simple terms enhanced with the tips that feng shui practitioners have used.”
Despite limited understanding of science, the observation and understanding of nature by feng shui practitioners have been remarkable. Practices used over 5,000 years ago are still applied today.
“Ancient feng shui practices have been diluted and contaminated with cultural, religious and superstitious practices.
“That is why I prefer to use the term ‘environology’ as it is true to the original knowledge, yet grounded in science as we know it,” Chin added.
He said it is important to understand the essence of feng shui as choosing an incompatible house can cause marital or family strife and broken homes, monetary losses decline in businesses, deterioration in health, hospitalisation, illness and possibly even death.
“Therefore, it is best to buy a home that is not just physically or geographically sound, but also one that is compatible with its dwellers,” Chin added.
