KUALA LUMPUR: Advocating work-life balance is one of the key messages that KL Wellness City represents. Being a leading destination in healthcare and wellness, KL Wellness City is going full force for all activities related to wellness and healthcare.

Having yoga as their main activity, the response was overwhelming with an average of 20 attendees for each class in May. These classes attracted not only the community in Bukit Jalil but also those from Petaling Jaya and other nearby areas. During the last session, held on May 30, more than 35 attended the Sleep Yoga and Sound Therapy session.

Wellness is all about the state of being in good health and with that in mind, KL Wellness City will be introducing different types of workouts every week like Zumba, Tabata HIIT, Aero-dance and KPop. For all wellness enthusiasts, future classes have been set for June 27 and July 4 and July 12. Classes are from 8pm to 9pm, free of charge at its gallery in Bukit Jalil.

Whether young or old, overweight or fit, yoga and other exercises have the power to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Health and wellness come hand-in-hand for long-term well-being.

“We are not focusing on wellness alone. Health is another important element for us. Many are unsure of the difference between health and wellness. Health refers to physical, mental and social well-being whereas wellness aims to enhance well-being. Having new workouts, which combine many different genres and movements, can enhance the health component,” said KL Wellness City branding, sales and marketing executive director Datuk Seri Dr Vincent Tiew.

Zumba is a form of aerobic fitness exercise based on Latin American dance rhythms which involves some basic easy-to-learn movements while Aero-Dance is a choreography-based class, taught like aerobics. Dancing is a fun way to burn calories and stay fit. KPop workout is another way to combine dance and fitness.

“Wellness programs constantly boost morale, productivity, and retention. This can be a draw for employees. Therefore, having weekly activities is important for our staff”, said managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee.
