KUANTAN: Pahang will build 30,000 units of houses under the 1Malaysia People's Housing Project (Prima).
State Housing and Municipal Committee chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the houses costing RM150,000 would be built at 70 locations.
"Currently two of the projects, at Gambang, Kuantan and Triang, Bera have been completed.
"We already have 20,000 applications for the units," he told reporters after the launch of a solid waste management programme and bottle collecting campaign at Kompleks Dagangan Indera Mahkota here.
PR1MA is an affordable urban housing scheme meant for people in the middle income group, ie with a household income between RM2,500 to RM10,000 a month.
PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias at a media briefing was quoted as saying that a total of 153,807 PR1MA homes have been approved for construction so far.
A total of 41,587 units are under construction while 112,000 are still in the planning stage.
A balloting process is conducted to determine successful applicants of the scheme.
Meanwhile, Pahang is among the seven states that have enforced the directive, effective Sept 1, that residents must segregate their solid waste at source.
Other states that have enforced the directive are Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
