PENANG: The Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) gala night saw 57 awards presented to deserving winners along with seven Institute of Landscape Architecture Malaysia (Ilam) awards. 

Officiated by Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow alongside Ilam president assoc prof Suhardi Maulan, brand new categories were introduced this year like the CSR and the professional categories. 

All Excellence award winners were also competing for the Project of the Year and President awards. The awards ceremony, held in conjunction with World Landscape Architecture Month, is keyed towards environmentally sound, sustainable strategies.

As one of the most prestigious awards for the landscape architecture industry in Southeast Asia, MLAA aims to inspire new design trends and recognise the contributions of those in the landscape architecture industry. 

MLAA is part of a wide array of activities where ILAM aims to introduce the landscape architect profession to a larger audience through various activities such as conferences, awards and public awareness campaigns.
