LONDON: The Malaysian consortium of SP Setia Bhd, Sime Darby Property Bhd and the Employees’ Provident Fund is improving the community facilities of the £9.3bil Battersea Power Station with the opening of a new playground.
The park, open to the public daily, is designed to feature areas suitable for all ages so children can enjoy themselves in a safe environment.
“I would like to congratulate all those involved in delivering this exciting outdoor space, which is a great addition to the new riverside neighbourhood that is being created at Battersea Power Station,” Wandsworth Mayor Richard Field said.
Battersea Power Station forms a centrepiece of a 15-minute live, work and play neighbourhood, which acts as a town centre for the immediate and wider local communities.
“Creating large areas of open space for members of the local community, residents and visitors to enjoy has been integral to the Battersea Power Station masterplan,” Battersea Power Station Development Company communities and sustainability director Alex Baker said.
Battersea Power Station is expected to draw visitors from across the capital and the globe, becoming one of London’s most visited destinations, boosting the local economy and creating over 17,000 jobs.
