PETALING JAYA: The KL International Hospital @ KL Wellness City (KLWC), approved as a tertiary hospital with 624 beds and scalable to 1,000-bed capacity, has started construction and is set to start operation in 1Q 2026.

Officiating the development yesterday, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman is optimistic that the project will create high-quality jobs for Malaysians and eventually contribute to making Malaysia a medical hub in the region.

“MIDA will continue to encourage investment in the healthcare sector based on advanced and digital technology, as well as embracing the concept of ESG principles in their projects. Among them is the KLIH project, which is set to be a major player in the industry, with a proposed investment of RM860mil and poised to create more than 3,000 job opportunities, with the vast majority of them going to Malaysians,” he said.

Also present were KLWC executive director of branding, sales, and marketing Datuk Seri Dr Vincent Tiew, managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee and corporate affairs and hospital services director Francis Lim Poon Thoo.

Among others, the hospital will have 22 operating theatres (including Hybrid Angio and MRI OT), robotic surgery, 3T MRIs, 512 CT, Biplane and Single Plane Cath labs, MRI Linac and a Hyperbaric unit. It will cater to a full range of medical disciplines including tertiary and secondary care services. It is aimed at attracting multidisciplinary specialists to practice in a single hospital location, shortening turnaround time for both local and foreign patients, and optimising patient care and experience.

Spanning over 26.49 acres, KL Wellness City is 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), it is a complete healthcare travel ecosystem anchored with The Nobel Healthcare Park, The KL International Hospital, 379 medical specialist suites, retirement resorts for independent and assisted living, a healthcare mall, residential units, commercial shop lots offering health and fitness-centric retail as well as food and beverage outlets, a multimedia super corridor-designated office space, and a central park.

Located in the heart of Bukit Jalil, The Nobel Healthcare Park, which consists of the medical, business, wellness and retail suites, has a fully-connected ecosystem of specialists and ancillary medical services interlinked with adjacent KL International Hospital @ KLWC.
