SEREMBAN: The IJM Land Home Rehabilitation Programme (myHome) is one of the company's core initiatives in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the company has strived to improve the standard of living and the quality of life for communities from all walks of life.
This programme was spearheaded in the year 2010 after the company participated in the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Malaysia (MHLG)’s flagship House Build programme in celebrating World Habitat Day, which was officially designated by the United Nations to reflect on the state of our cities and towns and the basic human right to adequate shelter.
So far, the company has managed to repair houses for poor families in states like Penang, Johor, Sabah and Negeri Sembilan. Last year, IJM Land was repairing homes for poor Chinese families in Kampung Baru Rasah, Negeri Sembilan. IJM Land will continue with the project 'House Build', that has brought a lot of benefits like this, in the future because they believe that with a bit of added value in all they do, they will make a difference in the community.
With this current project in Sungai Gadut, IJM Land had been working hard for the past three months to identify and interview several Indian families with low incomes, in order to assist them in repairing their homes. The homes that were selected is in Taman Tuanku Ampuan Najihah as the property was burnt due to a fire that occurred on September 18, in which all the occupant's property and goods were destroyed. With the cooperation and support provided by the companies contributing to the implementation of the project 'House Build', we were able to repair and hand over the house to the homeowner before Deepavali which was fixed on a Tuesday that was a mere week away.
"I would like to congratulate Mrs Kalaiairasi and Mrs Amutha, as well as their families for now having a house that is comfortable and a safe place to live now. I hope that this will allow you to continue life as normal and will enjoy a better standard of living than ever before. Here, I also want to take the opportunity to wish a 'Happy Deepavali' toMrs Kalaiairasi and Mrs Amutha, as well as their families. I pray that these families will always be in good health and happy now and in the future," said IJM Land senior general manager Hoo Kim See.
