JOHOR BARU: Flat residents at a project in Bandar Baru Uda need assistance to form a new Joint Management Body (JMB) as they are living in horrible conditions.
Retiree Md Yusup Matupuang, 74, said that the previous JMB had not been functioning since 2012 and no one had taken over the management of the flats.
“The previous body was not efficient in collecting the service charge fees from the 76 home owners.
“Now, Block A and B are no longer being maintained by the management company.
“There is also no electricity supply in the underground car park,” he said when met at the flats located on Jalan Padi Emas 5/3, Bandar Baru Uda.
Mechanic Adnan Zaim, 52, who has lived at the apartment for eight years, said that the previous JMB had not been carrying out their responsibilities well and residents had stopped paying in protest.
“We had been paying RM57 every month but decided to stop in 2012 as we were unhappy with the service provided.
“The flats are now unkempt and it is unsafe for us to stay here,” he said.
Adnan added residents had conducted a gotong-royong to help clean up the place but a more long-term solution is needed.
When contacted, Johor Baru City Council chief whip Datuk Yahya Jaafar said the council would meet residents soon to discuss the matter.
