IPOH: The Perak government has mapped out a five-year plan to develop the state between 2016 and 2020.
The Perak Development Plan (PDP), which was tabled by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir (BN-Pangkor) during the state assembly sitting yesterday, would include initiatives with a proposed ceiling allocation of RM1.76bil.
These include the forming of a new district in Tanjung Malim called Mua’llim that would include the development of a Youth City there; the development of “Wilayah Perak Selatan” involving 450,000ha in Batang Padang and Hilir Perak; the development of “Warisan Perdana Ipoh” as a golden triangle in the Kinta Valley; and the Green Asia Aerospace Technology Park in Seri Iskandar.
Under the PDP, the state also plans to develop the Ipoh Aerospace Park near the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport to handle maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft; the Kampung Acheh Free Zone to ease the import and export of cargo; the Living Collection Centre to plant and cultivate endangered plant species; and the Lenggong Agro Valley as an integrated farming project for husbandry, aquaculture and agro-tourism.
Other initiatives include continuous efforts to eradicate poverty, develop entrepreneurship, set up hospitals and higher learning institutes, build more affordable houses and improve the state’s eco-tourism industry.
Dr Zambry said the PDP was in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan that was tabled by the Prime Minister earlier in May.
“PDP will retain its focus on socio-economic projects and is a continuation of previous development plans,” he said.
