BEING the southernmost part of Peninsular Malaysia, Johor has always been a bustling state due to its strategic location between the east and west coastlines and flanked by the Malacca Straits and the South China Sea.
The beginning of its growth can be traced back to the leadership of modern Johor’s second ruler – Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar who was later known as the Father of Modern Johor – who forged a relationship with stronger European countries such as Great Britain to open up trade. Johor then flourished to become the biggest exporter of gambir and black pepper in the world.
With over 19,210 sq km of land under its belt, Johor continues to develop vast areas to accommodate its current population of 3.5 million.
Established in 2006, Iskandar Malaysia is a 2,217 sq km land slated to drive the growth of the property market in Johor and envisaged to become an international metropolis by 2025.
Iskandar Malaysia is divided into five flagship development zones: Johor Baru City Centre, Iskandar Puteri (formerly known as Nusajaya), Western Gate Development.
As of September 2017, the project has received RM244bil in cumulative committed investments against RM383bil targeted by 2025.
According to the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, 55% or RM134bil of the total expenditure has already been realised.
To pay homage to the efforts made by the developers involved in the Iskandar Malaysia project, StarProperty.my compiled the cream of the crop into a book titled “Johor’s Most Exceptional Developments: Jewels of Johor 2017/2018”.
“This book showcases the top developers from within and outside Johor for best in class developments in the state. The book also pays tribute to the vision of His Majesty Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in creating a progressive and modern state,” said StarProperty.my assistant general manager Ernest Towle.
From the best boutique townships, the best family-centric developments to the best industrial park developments, the book features highlights of the projects. Coupled with bright illustrations to feast your eyes, it will be an enjoyable read.
