JOHOR BARU: Daiman Development Bhd, a Johor-based property developer, is focus on building affordable landed properties as it seeks to lure first-time home buyers to its projects.

The company’s property development general manager Heng Song Teck said Daiman had no immediate plan to venture into high-rise residential properties as demand for its landed residential properties was still good.

“We will continue to focus on landed properties for our projects in Kota Tinggi and also Taman Gaya in the Tebrau Corridor,” he said after hosting breakfast for the media yesterday.

The company is targeting first-time house buyers and upgraders from the middle-income bracket for its residential properties in Kota Tinggi.

“We want to promote Kota Tinggi, which is still being shunned by most people because of the flooding a decade ago,’’ Heng said, adding that Kota Tinggi had undergone a major transformation since then.

Heng said the company was also banking on the multi-billion-ringgit development taking place at the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex here to attract buyers to its Taman Daiman Jaya township in Kota Tinggi.

“We want Kota Tinggi to be like what Seremban, where people commute daily to work in Kuala Lumpur. In this case, you live in Kota Tinggi but work in Johor Baru,’’ he said.

Heng said prices of residential properties in Kota Tinggi town about 42km north-east of Johor Baru was much lower compared with those in Johor Baru district.

He said the average pricing for the company’s double-storey link houses in Taman Daiman Jaya was between RM300,000 and RM400,000 each, while in Johor Baru it would start from RM600,000.

Heng said the development of Taman Daiman Jaya started in 2004, spanning over 1,011.71ha of which 121.40ha had been developed.

The project will keep the company busy for the next 15 to 20 years.
