Petaling Jaya: Think City has opened the applications for the Creative KL Urban Challenge, an urban rejuvenation initiative as part of the Budget 2023.
Implemented in partnership with Proficeo and OpenAcademy, the challenge’s primary objective is to foster collaborations among institutions such as universities, private sectors such as the developers, professional groups and individuals who have an interest in crafting urban solutions to enhance Downtown KL and improve the quality of life for its residents.
The challenge is seeking applications that address the persistent issues in Kuala Lumpur under three main themes - A Better Environment for All, Enhancing Urban Accessibility, and Reimagining Urban Housing.
Grand prize winners will be awarded RM200,000 each while consolation prize winners will receive RM40,000 each. The prize money will go towards the implementation of the winning solutions.
The initiative is in line with the Kuala Lumpur Creative and Cultural District Strategic Master Plan (KLCCD), which was developed in 2019 through a partnership between Think City, the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry (MOTAC), the National Heritage Department (JWN) and Yayasan Hasanah, as part of its goal to transform Downtown Kuala Lumpur into a Creative and Cultural District.
