GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has condemned the threat made by the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister over housing issues in Penang.
Lim claimed that Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan might have a personal feud with him and the state but was hitting out at the developers now.
“Not only projects by federal agencies need to go through the state planning committee, even projects under PDC also need to go through the same process.”
Abdul Rahman had said at the Bagan Umno division annual general meeting on Sunday that he was prepared to play hardball with Lim over the housing issue.
He claimed that the DAP-led government had not approved the federal projects because they involved government agencies like Perda and JKP Sdn Bhd.
And because of that, Abdul Rahman said, he had delayed many applications for licences by developers in Penang.
Earlier, the Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Penang and the state government had questioned the ministry for the delay in the issuance of advertising permit and developer’s licence (APDL) to private developers since last year.
