KUALA LUMPUR: GSC celebrated Merdeka and Malaysia Day with the launch of its latest 10-screen cinema at Melawati Mall. Proudly Malaysia-themed, the launch featured colors of the Jalur Gemilang, completed with flag-themed popcorn boxes, TV screen displays and ticket stubs. To add to the festivities, Datuk Yusof Haslam and the cast of the upcoming local blockbuster Abang Long Fadil 2 dropped by to meet fans of the movie, which opened Thursday.
As part of the launch fun and activities, they autographed a special graffiti wall and purchased tickets from the GSC e-Kiosk.
The brand new 10-screen cinema boasts a seating capacity of more than 1400. Featured halls were THX-certified, with Dolby Atmos sound systems and DBOX motion seat technology. Coupled with smart laser projection for sharper, more vivid colors, the cinema delivers a truly immersive movie experience.
During the launch, GSC CEO Koh Mei Lee said, "A total of RM 15.5 million had been invested by GSC to build this state-of-the–art multiplex. We at GSC would like to thank our partners for their support in extending the GSC cinematic experience here (Melawati Mall) in time for the Merdeka celebrations," according to a statement.
Opening promotions for the young and old include free tickets, popcorn and candy floss samplings and exclusive poster giveaways! Fans can also look forward to special appearances by your favorite movie super heroes. The celebrations will continue until the 10th of September. In a partnership with Grab, there will be a special discount of RM8 (GRABGSCMELAWATI) for rides from 24th August to 10th September.
