PETALING JAYA: The Housing and Local Government ministry is considering the posibility of the various Bumiputra quota in each state, said Minister YB Zuraida Kamarudin.
“Previously there had been some suggestion regarding the issue, and I am aware of it, but first and foremost, I would require some time to study the policy and get the feedback from the industry as well as the homebuyers,” said Zuraida during the press conference at the opening ceremony of the Malaysian Property Expo (MAPEX) 2018 last Friday.
Stating that the different Bumiputra quota might have a valid reason such as the demographics of the state, Zuraida said it is why thorough research should be done before coming up with the plan to streamline the quota.
She also added that the new government would devise policies without discriminating one's race or religion.
“If we set the terms that affordable houses are for those earning RM3000 and below, we will assess the candidate based on their income and not their race. Same goes for other policies too,” said Zuraida.
Back for the second time, MAPEX 2018 showcased over 6,000 properties from more than 40 developers.
The expo, which ran from 12-14 October (Fri-Sun), also offered the homebuyers a chance to win cash rebates of up to RM30,000.
