The projects were the Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1Malaysia (PPAIM) and PRIMA project, estimated at RM1.5bil in gross development value (GDV), said group managing director Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
He said Zecon had entered into an agreement with PRIMA Development Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned unit of PRIMA Corporation Malaysia, on Aug 15, this year to agree on key terms and set out the detailed parameters for the proposed development of 2,331 units of residential homes and 386,368 sq m of commercial space here.
He said Zecon projects would put the company in a strong position to support both the Federal and state governments’ efforts to provide quality affordable housing for the people.
“The Petra Jaya hospital will have 300 beds while the children specialist hospital 243 beds,” he said.
The specialist hospital project, which was carried out under private finance initiative concession, would provide the group with significant income through long-term operations and maintenance service when completed in 2018, he added.
Zainal said another on-going project of the group was the proposed RM200mil hotel, apartment and commercial development of a piece of land in Skudai, Johor. Zecon had earlier entered into a sublease agreement with Koperasi Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Bhd to develop the land.
On the RM1.46bil Pan Borneo Highway work package Zecon was awarded earlier this year, Zainal said works had commenced for scheduled completion in 2020. The package involves a 75km road from Serian roundabout to Pantu junction in southern Sarawak.
