KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Bhd took home three big wins at the StarProperty.my Awards 2016 for two of its prominent developments – Sunway Resort City and Sunway GEO – and a special ‘The All-Star Award Top Ranked Developer of the Year’.
The StarProperty.my Awards is an inaugural award that celebrates the most inspiring property developments in Malaysia. It aims to recognise the contributions of Malaysian developers that build sustainable and better living environments with ideas of economic values, environmental friendliness, comfort and conveniences that go a long way towards developing projects of stellar performance.

Sunway Resort City was recognised as the best township with ‘The Five Elements Development Award’ for its finest integration of Security, Amenities, Connectivity, Ambience and Community. The developer was commended for the planning and management of the elements which cohesively provides a seamless living experience for the community.
Equipped with key components such as residential, commercial, leisure, hospitality, retail, education and healthcare, the developer has invested in projects to improve public transport and walkway. Several projects include Malaysia’s first elevated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)-Sunway Line and the covered Canopy Walk, which serves to enhance the connectivity, accessibility and mobility of the communities living in the township. Partnered with the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) and the state of Selangor, Sunway Property has also launched the Safe City Initiative with the aim to reduce crime in Selangor.
Certified by Green Building Index (GBI) as Malaysia’s first fully integrated Green Township, Sunway Resort City is known for implementing green initiatives throughout the township. Several green efforts include the construction of a water treatment system within the township as part of the water conservation initiative, a Styrofoam-free initiative in all Sunway-owned cafeterias within Sunway Resort City, recycling programmes and Smoke-Free Sunway campaign.

The first integrated development of Sunway South Quay, Sunway GEO, was awarded ‘The Just-Walk Development Award’ as the best integrated development. Holistically embodying the ‘Work, Play, Live and Learn’ concept, Sunway GEO offers a wide selection of amenities all within a neighbourhood’s walkability range. The award was judged based on five criterion including carbon footprint and available amenities such as F&B outlets, entertainment outlets, shopping outlets and wellness and health outlets.
The launch of elevated electric BRT-Sunway Line system and the covered Canopy Walkway which connects Sunway Pyramid, Sunway University, Monash University, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway Medical Centre and Sunway Pinnacle, has greatly improved connectivity for residents and visitors. Various aspects of integrated systems and facilities that ensures low carbon footprint and reduce electricity consumption were introduced as well – the use of LED type fittings in all common areas, water chiller in Sunway Geo Office Tower and placement of permanent recycle bins just to name a few.
Sunway Bhd was also the recipient of a special award by The Star Media Group – ‘The All-Star Award Top Ranked Developer of the Year’. Based on the judges’ selection, the accolade acknowledges the developer who consistently demonstrates CSR efforts in engaging, supporting and serving various communities within its developments as well as ensuring quality customer service from pre-sales to post-sales.
