TOP Glove Corporation Bhd celebrated another milestone with the grand opening of its new 23-storey corporate building, the Top Glove Tower, in Setia Alam, Shah Alam.
Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah launched the iconic RM150mil structure, certified a green building, at its 0.8ha site.
Also present were Top Glove chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai, Pintar Foundation chairman Tan Sri Arshad Ayub, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas and Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali.
Lim and Arshad, on behalf of Top Glove Foundation, contributed RM200,000 to the Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor charitable organisation.
Sultan Sharafuddin received the contribution on behalf of Yayasan.
After the launch, the Sultan visited Top Glove’s Factory 9 to see how gloves are produced at the factory.
The new tower is a Grade A and green building index (GBI)-certified gold office and retail building, and adheres to internationally recognised Conquas and Qlassic standards.
It is designed to be energy-efficient and boasts a host of green features, including double-glazing windows for optimum light and heat insulation, as well as photovoltaic panels to harness solar power.
Top Glove Tower has a space of approximately 640,000 sq ft and houses a Nova Fitness gym, the Hao Xiang Chi Seafood Restaurant, a Natural Health Farm outlet, a Bespoke tailor shop and a clinic, not to mention conference rooms, a ballroom, cafeteria, auditorium and 768-lot carpark.
It is easily accessible via the New Klang Valley Expressway, Federal Highway and Guthrie Expressway.
Lim said the opening of the tower was truly a proud moment for the company.
“This tower stands as an icon, symbolising Top Glove which is known as the world’s largest rubber glove manufacturer.
“Part of our plan is to invest RM3bil over the next 15 years for expansion activities and upgrading manufacturing facilities.
“Since we started in 1991, we have grown and now have 27 factories producing 45 billion gloves annually. Twenty-two of them are located in Malaysia, while four factories are in Thailand and one in China.
“We have over 2,000 customers worldwide and export to more than 195 countries.
“As we continue to expand our glove business, we will invest in more advanced factories and machines, which will require more talents and additional office space. Hence, we are also building and investing for the future,” he said.
Besides the new building, Top Glove Corporation owns four other towers in the Klang Valley: The Icon@ Tun Razak, The Mines 2, PJD Tower and Empire Subang.
