KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s leading property developer, SP Setia Berhad, bagged the most popular graduate employer award in the Property and Construction sector at the annual Malaysia’s Leading Graduate Employers Awards. The event was organised by GTI Media Asia and Trendence, Europe’s leading research institute. This is the second time that SP Setia has bagged the honour.
On top of that, SP Setia is also listed as one of the Top 15 Leading Graduate Employers in Malaysia. SP Setia has been listed on the Malaysia’s 100 Leading Graduate Employers list since 2011.
"We would like to thank those who participated in the survey for voting for SP Setia. This is a testament to the continuous efforts we have put in to improve our policies as well as practices in maintaining a culture of excellence. This is to ensure a sustainable career path for every member of Team Setia," said SP Setia Berhad executive vice president Kow Choong Ming.
At SP Setia, efforts are constantly put in to ensure an all-inclusive approach to building a work environment in which employees are constantly engaged and committed to the well-being of the business. Such a culture has been embedded into the work environment, beginning with the company’s vision of 'To be the best in all we do'. With that, a culture of excellence has been set and all employees strive to be the best they can deliver to the success of the business.
To create such a work environment, the SP Setia development philosophy of 'LiveLearnWorkPlay' also applies to employees of SP Setia, who are fondly known as Team Setia. The company promotes learning and growth by providing a multitude of trainings and workshops for employees to improve their skills and hence perform better, in addition to identification of successors for organisation sustainability and various talent growth opportunities.
There is also a gamut of activities which enhances the overall well-being of Team Setia as well as the surrounding community, thus creating a more fulfilling and holistic lifestyle for employees. Activities such as 'Health Month', festive celebration activities, recycling activities, corporate responsibility activities and voluntary services in the Setia Foundation Caring School Programme create a sense of mutual caring between the company and its employees.
Moreover, senior management at SP Setia inspires Team Setia by being personally involved in developing top talents and communicating with employees the direction where the company is headed to. Ongoing mentoring sessions with talents, bi-annual chief executive officer’s (CEO) dialogue where the CEO goes from one business unit to another to communicate to all employees on the company’s current performance, and future plans shows the employees that the management is sincere in reaching out to everyone regardless of ranks and titles.
“We believe that good communication flow is crucial in order to create a highly engaged workforce and at SP Setia, we encourage a two-way communication where senior managements’ doors are always open for employees’ feedback,” Kow added.
The award celebrates the Top 100 Graduate Employers in Malaysia as surveyed from over 14,000 students via the annual Graduate Barometer survey.
