PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Property came out tops at the QLASSIC Excellence Award 2015, bagging 18 quality building awards and five special awards during the event organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, making it as the most awarded developer at the ceremony with a total of 23 awards.
Sime Darby Property was among high-achieving developers and contractors of 46 projects who received awards for quality and excellence. The projects were divided into four categories namely landed housing, stratified housing, public building and special public building.
Sime Darby Property came out tops in two of the listed categories with 18 awards for its various landed housing and public building developments in townships such as Putra Heights, Denai Alam, Bandar Bukit Raja, Saujana Impian, Nilai Impian and Bandar Ainsdale, among others. The awards included a commercial development in Ara Damansara by its subsidiary company, Sime Darby Brunsfield.
Following the 18 quality building awards, CIDB also presented Sime Darby Property with five additional awards at the ceremony.
Four Best QLASSIC Achievement awards were given to Sime Darby Property for its medium-sized residential development in Denai Alam and Nilai Utama, medium-sized non-residential development in Damansara, Petaling Jaya and small-sized non-residential development in Nilai Impian.
The final award for Sime Darby Property was a Special Appreciation accolade in the developer category from CIDB. Sime Darby Property managing director, Dato’ Ir. Jauhari Hamidi said, “We are truly honoured by the recognition from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and winning 23 awards is a tremendous accomplishment for Sime Darby Property.
Our commitment in delivering the highest quality products to our customers is the key for this achievement, and applies across all developments carried out by us and our subsidiaries. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the full commitment and dedication of the team in Sime Darby Property.”
The Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) is a system or method to measure and evaluate the workmanship quality of a building construction work based on Construction Industry Standard (CIS 7:2006). QLASSIC enables the quality of workmanship between construction projects to be objectively compared through a scoring system.
QLASSIC assessments are carried out through site inspection and use the principles of first time inspection. Construction works that are rectified after an assessment will not be re-assessed. The objective of this principle is to encourage the contractor to "Do Things Right the First Time and Every Time".
“Quality matters as much to Sime Darby Property as it does to our customers. We implement strict internal quality measures to complement external assessment focusing on product quality conducted by the CIDB through QLASSIC, to ensure our products are always of the highest quality and standards,” added Dato’ Jauhari.
Sime Darby Property’s QLASSIC results have shown tremendous improvements year on year, such as reduction of non-compliance at the structural construction stage as well as decrease in defects per unit. QLASSIC is one of the final stages in Sime DarbyProperty’s product quality assessment system, following its own stringent internal assessments.
