PETALING JAYA: The 33rd Kiwanis Treasure Hunt 2016 returns this year and aims to raise RM400,000 to fund the operation and maintenance of the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation (KDSF) National Centre.
The annual event organised by the Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur (KCKL) will be held from May 28 to 30.
It will start in Kuala Lumpur and end at Damai Laut in Lumut, Perak.
LBS Bina Group Bhd managing director Tan Sri Lim Hock San, whose property development company is the premier sponsor, launched the event at the centre located in Taman SEA here.
To mark LBS’ 10th year of support for this event, LBS Club adviser Puan Sri Karen Lim said they would incorporate the 5th LBS Treasure Hunt into the 33rd Kiwanis Treasure Hunt, and send 10 to 15 teams to join as participants.
“We all stand united for this noble and worthy cause, and for the betterment of our community, families and friends,” said Hock San, who later handed over a contribution of RM120,000.
KDSF National Centre patron Toh Puan Ena Ling was also present to witness the contribution handover by the treasure hunt’s sponsors and partners.
Event organising chairman Fred Tan said The Never-ending Story was chosen as this year’s theme, to reflect the continuity of the fund raiser and the unending effort of the club’s members in helping children with Down Syndrome and others in need.
The KDSF National Centre, which is in its 27th year of operation, conducts an early intervention programme for children with Down Syndrome aged seven and below.
Besides subsidising the cost of running the centre, funds raised from the event will also be channelled to other community service projects undertaken by KCKL.
The centre has an enrolment of up to 150 children, with an annual operational cost of about RM1mil.
Star Media Group Berhad is a media partner for the 33rd Kiwanis Treasure Hunt 2016.
