THE premier largest shopping mall in southern Klang Valley, IOI City Mall, has emerged the winner of the prestigious FIABCI-Malaysia Property Award 2016 for Retail Category. The award is the latest recognition for the multi-award winning mall, which houses the world’s first indoor apocalypse-themed action park, District 21; and Malaysia’s first Olympic sized ice-skating rink, Icescape.
The winner for the Retail Category is selected based on the development’s overall concept, design and architecture, environmental impact, safety and maintenance, and the benefits to the community, amongst others. Award recipients will have the opportunity to win the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2017, competing against other renowned retail malls on the world stage.
“With this prestigious award, we have achieved yet another significant milestone with our flagship mall. We are honoured to have received such recognition and the Group will continue to be a leading lifestyle influencer, creating positive impact to the community in which it operates and generating positive returns to our shareholders,” commented IOI Properties Group Bhd chief executive officer Lee Yeow Seng in a statement.
IOI City Mall is strategically located in the heart of IOI Resort City, an integrated development crafted by IOIPG which includes Puteri Palma Condo, GBI-certified IOI City Towers, hotels of world class brands – Putrajaya Marriott and Le Méridien Putrajaya; and an 18-hole championship golf course, all under one resort address.
The development of the mall incorporates sustainable design principles in line with the Group’s sustainability efforts. The mall, amidst a lush landscape of 1,000 palm trees integrates environment-friendly and sustainable features which includes high ceilings that harness natural sunlight, rain water harvesting system to reduce dependence on treated water, and low co-efficient glass for reduction of heat gain, amongst others.
Officially opened in the year 2014, IOI City Mall attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors monthly from surrounding areas such as Putrajaya, Bangi, Kajang and as far as Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan. IOI City Mall is a preferred choice for shopping, eating and entertainment experiences with many unique facilities and branded outlets available. The mall is also accessible to public transport users as shuttle bus service is provided from Serdang KTM station.
Apart from District 21 and the largest ice rink in the country, IOI City Mall houses 398 F&B and retail outlets, with major anchors including the 13-hall Golden Screen Cinemas, HomePro, Index Living Mall, Parkson and Tesco. The mall is also the first to introduce the “Car Finder System” which enables patrons to locate their cars within seconds in a 7,554 bay car park, saving precious time and ensuring security for the patrons.
“This recognition is due to the collective efforts of the team in achieving a new milestone; we will continue our efforts in achieving higher standards and strive for excellence,” enthused IOI Properties Group Bhd chief operating officer (property investment) Cheah Wing Choong, when expressing his appreciation to his team as well as support from the public for making the mall a success.
