PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have a wide range of assets they can invest in, including property, but should ensure they are financially protected.
Property investment is the preferred choice because it has leveraging power, enabling investors to build wealth over the long term, said VKA Wealth Planners business development director Ang Chee Yong.
Such investors also have the option to rent out their properties and have tenants pay down the mortgage instalments.
“Given time, their investments should grow in value,” he said.
“We have to go back to basics and structure our property portfolio, making it as good as possible to reach our financial goal.
“Regardless of how aggressive we are, property investment may be one of the biggest financial commitments most of us will ever make,” said Ang.
He said many households were over-committed and did not have adequate life insurance protection when they use financial leverage to invest in property.
“To avoid a financial burden should a mishap happen, protection schemes such as mortgage reducing term assurance and mortgage level term assurance are important,” he said.
Other property investment strategies will be shared by experts at StarProperty.my Forum 2016 at the i-Gallery in i-City, Shah Alam, on Saturday.
