PROPERTY hunters can now find feng shui-friendly condominium and apartment units based on Vasthu Sastra as several developers are incorporating it into their projects.

Sunday Star columnist T. Selva said his research showed that there were several high-rise properties featuring favourable layouts following the 5,000-year-old Indian science of construction.

“As landed properties are getting scarce and expensive in major cities like Penang, turning to apartments and condominiums can be an option now.

“However, selecting the appropriate unit is vital because unfavourable layout will not allow an owner to renovate or relocate the amenities,” said Selva who is the author of the Vasthu Sastra Guide book.

Selva said studio units were in demand among young couples and bachelors currently and developers were building smaller versions of homes, some measuring 500sq ft and below.

“The size does not matter as long as the living, dining area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom housed in one large room observes Vasthu Sastra rules.

“The flow of energy is based on the shape of a structure, which should be square or rectangular, to ensure even distribution of life force. It does not matter if the space is big or small,” he said.

Selva said when choosing a property, the buyer need to take the compass reading to determine the location the unit is facing or request the real estate agents to provide the direction of the unit.

In a high-rise unit, he said the direction of the apartment unit should be seen and not the entire apartment site.

“Following this, take the entire length and width of the unit and divide the space into three to get the eight quadrants.

“For instance, if the unit faces North, the studio apartment is regarded as an auspicious entry in Vasthu.

“The main door to the North-facing unit should be located in the North-East and it should open towards the right when entering the unit to allow easy flow of subtle energy,” he said.

At both his talks this weekend, he will be showing participants on how to use a compass to determine the direction of a property, selecting an auspicious house layout, ancient secrets on enhancing prosperity and good health and using pyramids to attract positive energies.
