BEFORE receiving vacant possession, it is important for the buyer to conduct a building inspection of the property.
This will help ensure that the property is safe to be occupied while saving cost where unnecessary defects or shoddy workmanship is concerned.
At the StarProperty.my Roadshow this weekend, Canaan Building Inspection Sdn Bhd director Joshua Kang will deliver a talk titled “Is Building Defects Inspection Essential for Your New House?”. The talk will focus on issues such as the process of getting vacant possession, the industry’s acceptable quality standards, ways to perform a defect inspection as well as quality assessment systems used by developers.
“Without proper inspections, there may be disputes over defects or workmanship in the later stages. Don’t ever rush into renovations after receiving vacant possession,” said Kang.

“It is important to know about vacant possession because it can help prevent disputes. We should also know our rights as homebuyers to avoid problems in future,” Kang stressed.

As these taxes affect one’s return on investment (ROI) in property investment, knowing about them and how they work will help investors in calculating their property gains and making sounds investment decisions.
