KUALA LUMPUR: The property market will improve next year in view of the great interest from buyers and investors, although loan approvals may be an issue, said Mah Sing Group Bhd group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.
“Mah Sing has received many bookings but we want to see a higher rate of loan approvals,” he said.
He said there could be challenges next year “but we will continue to deliver the right products to cater to the needs of the market”.
Founder of Singapore-based Consultancy Pte Ltd Khalil Adis said the property sector saw a marginal boost when foreign investors saw the falling ringgit as an opportune time to enter the market.
For example, he said Iskandar Malaysia saw some Singaporeans taking advantage of the exchange rate to buy properties there.
REI Group of Companies CEO Dr Daniele Gambero said: “As a foreigner, I do not look at the health of the property market. Instead, I look at the demand for properties and I can see that the demand in Malaysia is still good.
“Property buying is about researching for the right property in the right location at the right time.”
About 50 developers are participating in the StarProperty.my fair.
Thai property is also featured, brought to Malaysia by WinWin Property Link and The Urban Property. With prices starting from RM250,000, there are many options to lure buyers’ interest in Thailand.
Visitors can check out the KnightsBridge @ Sriracha by Origin Property. This art deco-inspired development offers fully-furnished units with scenic views. They come in built-up sizes of 312sq ft, 365sq ft and 592sq ft.
The Urban Property is an award-winning Thai developer which is promoting its exclusive projects – The Urban Attitude @ Bearing 14 and Aeras Condominium.
WinWin Property Link managing director Chana Borvornluck said Malaysians should consider investing in Thailand as property was still considerably affordable even within the capital.
“With the presence of Malaysian banks in Thailand, it is easy to get a loan. My goal is to educate Malaysians on the rules of buying property in Thailand, and how the existing and upcoming infrastructure will help with the rental yield and capital appreciation,” he said.
Among the speakers at the fair are Alan Poon on “Smart Tenant Management for Property Investors”, Siva Shanker on “The State of the Property Market and Investment Opportunities in the Region” and Elizabeth Siew on “Smart Property Investors Know the Law in Creative Investment”.
The fair is being organised by StarProperty.my together with its premium partners IJM Land, Tropicana Corp Bhd and Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd.
Those who buy a property at the fair get a chance to win Senheng vouchers.
Visitors should complete one of the surveys available at the StarProperty.my booth for a chance to win MOCOF’s Transformer Wall Bed worth RM8,299, MOCOF’s Flux Chair worth RM679, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, a year’s subscription of The Star ePaper worth RM350 and shopping vouchers, among other prizes.
