JOHOR BARU: In an effort to raise public awareness on the importance of creating a sustainable environment, Sunway Property will organise its annual cycling event across four states in the country.
Its managing director, property development division for Malaysia and Singapore, Sarena Cheah said the Race for a Better Planet campaign (#SunwayRFBP) would be held at Johor Baru, Klang Valley, Ipoh and Penang from May 7 to 21.
She said the non-competitive cycling event would be the fourth time the developer had organised such events with the aim of teaching people to help save the environment.
“Besides that, the campaign is also aimed at strengthening the bond between the people apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle among the younger generation,” she said.
Cheah added that during the event, participants would also be taught how to adopt eco-friendly habits such as reducing the use of plastic bottles, using recyclable lunch boxes and other activities.
“The event will be a good platform for people to spend quality time with their families and friends,” she said.
Cheah added the event is supported by Grab, Sunquick and Unilever, and participants would stand a chance to win RM12,000 worth of prizes from Grab during the lucky draw contest.
“The event will be held on May 7 at Sunway City Ipoh and Sunway Property @ Anson, Penang; Sunway Iskandar in Johor Baru on May 14 and Sunway City in the Klang Valley on May 21,” she said.
She added that registration is RM25 per person and proceeds would be channelled to an environmental non-governmental organisation.
Cheah said that last year, the campaign saw 3,000 people taking part in a range of sports activities, recycling efforts, green workshops as well as do-it-yourself (DIY) painting activities.
