GELANG PATAH: SK Morni Pok will convert a container it received from a property developer into a classroom cabin in efforts to overcome the shortage of classrooms to cater to the number of students here.
The contribution also came with a RM20,000 donation to provide a conducive learning environment for students and teachers at the school.
Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd (CGPV) head of corporate communication and media Hezrin Ali said they wanted to help upgrade the school.
Hezrin said that the company introduced the adopted school programme to strengthen their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in education.
“Our CSR programmes aim to contribute to human capital development so that the communities within our area of operations will be able to participate in and benefit from the extensive developments undertaken by the company.
“It is CGPV’s responsibility to give back to the community and we will continue to have more CSR activities as we aim to highlight the ways in which we have used our knowledge, expertise and insights to create avenues for progress within the community,” he said.
He added that the implementation of this programme was also aimed at assisting students in the selected schools in various ways, especially in terms of personal, academic and social development.
CGPV’s adopted schools include SK Morni Pok, SK Pendas Laut, SK Tanjung Kupang, SK Tiram Duku and SK Tanjong Adang.
Meanwhile, SK Morni Pok headmaster Kamarudin Yusop said they were thankful for the aid given by CGPV and said that they would use the cabin for the benefit of students.
“The school’s infrastructure and facilities are inadequate, and we will use the funds to upgrade the school.
“I hope this will motivate the students to do well,” he said, adding that it was an honour to be chosen as one of CGPV’s adopted schools.
CGPV has organised various CSR events in education, which includes UPSR Final Sprint Motivational Seminar, Back to School CGPV and infrastructure upgrade at its adopted schools.
The cheque presentation ceremony was held together with students’ academic excellence and graduation ceremony at the school and was officiated by Johor Mentri Besar’s political secretary and Gelang Patah Umno chief Mohammad Khairi A. Malik.
