THE grand launch of Sunsuria City Celebration Centre in Putrajaya South, Sepang, went with a bang over the weekend.
On Saturday, about 4,500 guests made their way to the event where a special concert was held, featuring Malaysian artistes Fish Leong, Datuk Sheila Majid, Ah Niu, Dennis Lau and South Korean pop stars Block B Bastarz.
The evening came to a glimmering end when fireworks were launched into the night sky.
Sunsuria Bhd executive chairman Datuk Ter Leong Yap said the event was the first with many more celebrations to be held in future.
“We named it a celebration centre because there is a lot to celebrate.
“It’s not purely a sales gallery; it’s a place where students can express themselves, a platform where startups can converge and grow, and a place where art is promoted,” said Ter.
The ceremony was launched by Malaysia-China Business Council chairman Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, Ter and Sunsuria Bhd chief executive officer Koong Wai Seng.
Measuring over 2.8ha, the centre is the first landmark to be established in the Sunsuria City township.
It houses Sunsuria’s 20,000sq ft flagship sales gallery and also serves as a venue for community gatherings and celebrations.
Within its grounds, the centre has its own cafes, a festivities arena, a sensory garden, bike sharing facilities and the Le Park route that connects to the Salak Tinggi ERL station.
The total development cost for the centre is RM25mil.
As the development is built to surround the Xiamen University Malaysia campus, Ter said the university was a catalyst that drove the developer to provide the most contemporary living features.
“With the growing community and the increasing number of students at the university, we gave a lot of thought to the living environment we want to create.”
Even when it comes to naming its projects, Ter said they wanted something that sparked inspiration.
“We named the Bell Avenue after American inventor Alexander Graham Bell, the Monet Residences after the famous 19th century artist Claude Monet.”
“We want to put life and culture into the whole of Sunsuria City, and the celebration centre is the starting point,” he added.
Bell Suites Soho was launched in conjunction with the celebration centre opening, featuring 478 units measuring between 450sq ft and 970 sq ft.
Sunsuria City’s next launch is the three-parcel Monet Residences landed homes development.
Over the weekend, members of the public came for the food, art and music, while they were kept entertained with all-day activities including street performances, stage games, and live concerts.
