First shopping centre developer cum manager secures MRCA membership
KUALA LUMPUR: Central Pattana Public Company Limited (CPN)’s maiden international regional shopping centre, Central i-City recently became a member of the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA). A joint venture between CPN, Thailand's largest retail developer and investor, and I-City Properties Sdn Bhd (ICP), an affiliate of Malaysian property developer i-Berhad, Central i-City was invited by the MRCA council to apply for membership and received a certificate at the association’s July 2017 monthly meeting event, attended by over 200 guests.
CPN Ventures Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Anthony Dylan shared, “We are thankful to receive this membership, effective from July 2017, as this will provide us the opportunity to capitalise on the collective experiences and resources of Malaysia’s premier and dynamic group of retail experts. We see this membership as a springboard to network, and to establish partnerships and collaboration opportunities with retailers through sharing of insights, word-of-mouth marketing, dialogues and seminars, among other avenues. The prospects of networking with industry players and experts bodes well with our core value of ‘success of partners’.
“Through this membership, we aim to champion the shopping centre’s ‘landlord-retailer synergy’ through interactive and appreciation initiatives such as retailer familiarisation trips to Thailand, tenant announcements and briefings as well as media exposure, among others. This will help facilitate a better understanding between us and the retailers, so we are cognizant of their needs and expectations,” he added.
Central i-City, expected to open in 2018, is situated in Klang Valley’s most advanced technology and lifestyle hub and is a landmark that signifies CPN’s advancement into the ASEAN shopping centre landscape. It positions itself as a primary distinguished destination with facilities for everyone, both young and old alike.
Incorporating the best of Malaysian retail and the latest ideas from Thailand, Central i-City’s innovative concept will allow visitors to appreciate the Thai shopping experience – a much-loved trend – locally.
CPN’s vision is to be the most admired and dynamic regional retail property developer with world-class rewarding experience. To achieve that, CPN will continue to ensure that all components of its shopping centres pay due attention to service users — whether through basing shop selection on diversity and novelty, the staging of interesting activities or providing complete amenities.
