Ramadhan 2019 has begun and Malaysians will be flocking to streets turned to bustling food markets to get some competitively priced and scrumptious food.

If you’re looking to get in on the action, here’s a breakdown of the biggest Ramadhan bazaars happening this year.

Kampung Baru

Given the cultural heritage of this village within the city, the Kampung Baru Ramadhan bazaar has always been among the largest in the country, but this year's bazaar is even bigger. There are over 400 stalls this time around, among them, purportedly the city’s best nasi lemak – Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa.

The Kampung Baru Ramadhan Bazaar covers a wide area along Jalan Raja Alang, Jalan Raja Muda, and Jalan Raja Uda. This year’s bazaar in Kampung Baru is especially unique – given the added draw of celebrity appearances and e-wallet promotions entailing gifts and cashless rebates for shoppers.

Given this location’s popularity, getting there by car will present some issues and parking is generally difficult to come by during peak hours – but the bazaar can be reached with a short walk from the Kampung Baru LRT station, which is just one stop away from KLCC.

Bandar Tun Razak

Bandar Tun Razak’s bazaar is arguably the largest in the vicinity of Cheras and is even bigger on Sundays, with the weekly night market (pasar malam) happening on a nearby street (Jalan 20/16).

This bazaar is conveniently located beside the Bandar Tun Razak LRT station, which can be reached in just 20 minutes from KL Sentral on the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

USJ 4

The USJ 4 bazaar is one of the Klang Valley’s highest-rated Ramadhan bazaars but it is not as accessible as the other entries in this list.

Located along Jalan USJ4/5 and USJ 4/6, it is a considerable walk from the Taipan LRT station in neighbouring USJ 6. Rather than walking the two kilometres to the food market from the station it is advisable to drive there via the ELITE, KESAS, or Federal Highway, and park in front of the nearby shops.

Stadium Shah Alam

The bazaar at Stadium Malawati occupies the same space as the weekly farmer's market (pasar tani), located in the parking lot of the stadium. With the added convenience of the nearby AEON Mall and Giant Hypermarket, this bazaar is likely to be the most visited in Shah Alam.

Situated along Shah Alam's busiest intersection, the Stadium Shah Alam bazaar is accessible from the Federal Highway, or the Batu Tiga KTM station located a short taxi ride away.

TTDI

The bazaar along Jalan Mohd Fuad 2, in the commercial district of TTDI proper, is one of the valley's most visited with its being situated among the area's many apartments and condominium developments.

The Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Ramadan bazaar started to get packed with people of all races and the roads were jammed with cars at about 5pm.

The TTDI Ramadhan bazaar is easily accessed via the TTDI MRT station at TTDI Plaza, or a drive along the LDP highway – but the regular rush hour traffic along this stretch of road would make public transportation the smarter choice.
