IT IS good to get moving and start walking for health, and if you can raise money for a good cause at the same time, why not?
UOA Group recently organised a charity walk, Bangsar South Charity Walk Together 2015, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
More than 1,600 participants took part in the 3.5km walk around Bangsar South, UOA’s award-winning flagship integrated city development.
The group managed to raise RM81,000 for three charities: namely Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Angels and Pusat Bantuan Sentul.
The mock cheques were handed over to the three charities’ representatives who also participated in the charity walk together with the children from the charitable homes.
“We would like to express our gratitude to all the participants who joined us on the walk in support of this meaningful cause.
“The funds raised will help the underprivileged children in need,” said UOA Group property director Cecelia Chan.
Also present were chief financial officer Kim Ang and human resource head Suzan Teo.
The charity walk kicked off after an energetic warm-up session with the cheerful crowd.
The aim was to encourage everyone to make a positive difference by demonstrating their solidarity for a good cause.
“We are very pleased to see so many people from diverse cultural backgrounds coming together to contribute to the cause. This shows that we are a truly caring Malaysian society,” she added.
All participants who completed the walk received a commemorative medal, and refreshments were served after the event.
Activities such as a cheer leading performance, face painting, photo booth session, “Super Hero” mascot walkabout and live band performances were also held that day.
