SHAH ALAM: Sime Darby Property Bhd brought holiday magic to life with the inaugural Elmina Lakeside Festival at Elmina Lakeside Mall (ELM) and Urban Park in the City of Elmina. This family-friendly event took place on Dec 7 and 8, 2024 and attracted over 100,000 visitors.
The festival featured over 20 activities and attractions, redefining the holiday experience for Shah Alam residents and visitors from Klang Valley. Festival-goers enjoyed a memorable lakeside concert with performances by Datuk Awie, Ella, Dolla and Joey Leong, alongside a dazzling fireworks display.
The highlight of the event was the impressive 135-metre flying Santa sleigh, which earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records as the longest Santa sleigh rope slide in the country. A giant Christmas tree that served as a toy factory and European-themed Christmas markets added to the festive charm.
Visitors also enjoyed the Fun Zone, featuring hot air balloon rides, an ice-skating rink, carnival game booths, family boat rides, inflatable castles and the whimsical Teddy Bear Village. The Lumi Light Garden with giant LED light sculptures and a Northern Lights display created an immersive visual spectacle.
“The Elmina Lakeside Festival truly evoked a sense of belonging by uniting communities in a joyous celebration of the holiday season. The overwhelming turnout is a testament to our vision of creating vibrant spaces where families and friends can come together and make lasting memories,” said Sime Darby Property township development chief operating officer Appollo Leong.
“We are delighted to have welcomed the public to our Elmina Lakeside Mall and Elmina Urban Park. This vibrant festive event marks the beginning of many more placemaking initiatives and exciting events that will shape Elmina City Centre for years to come,” he continued.
Opened in August, ELM boasts a remarkable 99% occupancy rate and offers a blend of trendy and artisanal experiences. Sime Darby Property is also set to unveil Malaysia’s first outdoor sculpture museum in Urban Park and the upcoming Arts and Cultural Park.
