PETALING JAYA: The new Elmina Interchange was launched today to provide residents of  City of Elmina and Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) motorists with enhanced accessibility to various areas of the city and surrounding locations.

Public access to the Elmina Interchange is made possible upon completion of road infrastructure at the City of Elmina, involving a substantial investment of RM66mil by Sime Darby Property.

The company constructed new roads connecting the townships of Denai Alam and Bukit Subang to Elmina West at the City of Elmina leading to the interchange and subsequently the GCE, at the cost of approximately RM22mil.

The developer also invested RM44mil in roads connecting Subang Bestari to the GCE via the Elmina East township as part of their connectivity investment.

According to the statement, the Elmina Interchange will be officially opened to the public at 10pm today.

The launch of the interchange was officiated by Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Ir. Haji Ismail Md. Salleh, accompanied by Ministry of Works Secretary of Development and Implementation Datuk Embok Masek Md Taher, Prolintas Group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah and Sime Darby Property chief operating officer (COO) Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri.

The Elmina Interchange, located at Exit 3504 of the GCE, was built by Prolintas and completed when the expressway was opened to the public.

“Connectivity is a hallmark of Sime Darby Property developments and reinforces the strength of our townships, apart from being self-sustainable and positioned in strategic locations. It catalyses the growth of our townships and communities, elevating our value proposition,” said Wan Hashimi Albakr.

"We would like to thank the Malaysian Highway Authority and Prolintas for enhancing the City of Elmina’s connectivity through the Elmina Interchange, and we are pleased to contribute by completing vital road networks at the township,” he added.

The city of Elmina is a 5,000-acre themed township development by Sime Darby Property with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM27bil and includes the Denai Alam, Bukit Subang, Elmina East and Elmina West townships.
