SELANGOR: Dusit Hotels and Resorts, the hotel arm of Thailand-based Dusit International, signed a Hotel Management Agreement with Gamuda Land to manage the developer’s first hotel development, ASAI Gamuda Cove.
The project, located in the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove, will be Dusit’s first hotel in Malaysia. It is slated to open in Q1 2026.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, Lada Phumas, Gamuda Land chief commercial officer Eusoffe Chua, MIDA services development executive director Zuaida Abdullah, Gamuda Land chief executive officer Chu Wai Lune and Dusit International development global vice president Siradej Donavanik.
ASAI Hotels will be operated under Dusit’s distinctive locally-focused lifestyle brand, which aims to provide authentic local experiences in areas of natural beauty.
“This decision stands as a testament of the growing positive business sentiment among investors in Malaysia’s tourism sector. The establishment also symbolises our country’s progressive move towards sustainable development, notably integrating with the intracity e-tram network in alignment with the government's aspiration towards ESG principles,” Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman said.
In line with the National Tourism Policy 2020-2030, Wira noted that these investments would further contribute to the competitiveness of Malaysia's tourism industry.
With a 20-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur airport, ASAI Gamuda Cove is targeting domestic and international tourists, leveraging on Gamuda Cove’s eco-tourist landmarks, such as SplashMania Waterpark, Discovery Park and Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands.
The masterplan of the township comprises residential and commercial elements, including educational establishments, medical centres, retail spaces and offices.
“To be entrusted with the management of the first hotel within the dynamic Gamuda Cove development truly is an honour, and we are delighted to partner with Gamuda Land to help bring their vision for their first-ever hotel project to life,” Dusit International chief operating officer Gilles Cretallaz said.
“Gamuda Cove perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the ASAI brand, and we look forward to delivering a unique and unforgettable hotel experience that immerses guests in the diverse cultural tapestry of Malaysia and the natural beauty of the wetlands," he added.
