KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has streamlined its planning and building approvals by enhancing its current set of development guidelines.
Mayor Tan Sri Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said this would speed up the application and approval process for future projects.
The Guidelines for Earthworks Application, Road and Drainage Works as well as the Carpark and Internal Traffic Circulation will serve as source materials for consultants, architects and developers.
A risk-based inspection process has also been introduced in the guidelines.
“For medium developments, only one inspection is required, but for big developments such as apartments, we still require two inspections to verify application and site infrastructure,” said Amin Nordin.
He added that the process could be time consuming as there were many agencies and parties involved in the inspection exercise.
He said the enhancements could reduce the waiting time by a month.
“However, the onus is on the submitter to adhere to the guidelines, otherwise action will be taken against them,” he said.
As part of the initiative, the Certificate of Rainwater Management System would be combined with the Guidelines for Road and Drainage Works.
“Rather than sending two different applications, only one submission is needed now,” he explained.
