THE Local Plans for Penang island and the mainland are expected to be completed and gazetted sometime this year.
State Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the outstanding Special Area Plan (SAP) for the Botanical Gardens would also be gazetted this year.
“This will ensure the State Structure Plan 2020 will be gazetted in the near future,” he said.
Jagdeep said all the data to be incorporated into the Structure Plan was now open for public scrutiny until Jan 31.
He noted that two SAPs, for the George Town Unesco World Heritage Site and Penang Hill, were gazetted on Aug 1.
Jagdeep was speaking to reporters after delivering his report card for 2016 and distributing 2017 calendars at the Taman Free School public market on New Year’s Eve.
On another matter, Jagdeep said the development of workers’ dormitories would kick off this year in Bukit Tambun.
