RATEPAYERS in mainland Penang who settle the second half of their annual assessments before National Day — the deadline — will get five free parking coupon books worth RM20.
Those who are late will have to cough up RM10 as penalty.
“The counter is closed for National Day, but you can still pay online that day,” said Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) president Datuk Rozali Mohamud.
From today to Wednesday, the payment counters at MPSP headquarters in Bandar Perda will operate from 7.30am to 8.30pm for the public’s convenience.
Ratepayers must show proof of payment when collecting the coupons.
Rozali also announced that all business operating licences in mainland Penang will expire on Dec 31 starting next year.
If your licence is expiring next year, MPSP will charge a pro-rated fee until the last day of next year when you renew it on time.
Rozali urged business owners not to be late in renewing their licence to enjoy the pro-rated fee.
“The change will help all businesses here to set Dec 31 each year as their licence expiry date.
“We hope this uniformed reminder will prevent people from being late to renew and pay penalties unnecessarily,” Rozali told a press conference after chairing a full council meeting on Friday.
