PETALING JAYA: A contractor came across an old mortar bomb while carrying out drainage cleaning with a tractor in front of Semenyih Sentral near here.
He was cleaning the area at about 1.30pm Tuesday when he discovered the pre-war bomb. He then brought it up using the backhoe of the tractor.
It is learnt that police were alerted about the find around 3pm.
When contacted, Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Othman Nanyan confirmed the report.
ACP Othman said the bomb, a 150mm mortar that was about 27 inches long, was brought to a nearby quarry to be destroyed.
