PENANG Gerakan has urged the Penang Island City Council to create more parking spaces at the Bayan Baru wet market and hawker complex.
State Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong said they received many complaints from the public over the lack of parking lots.
“This is a very popular place for people living nearby and those working in factories as it offers a variety of food and sundries.
“It is always packed and very difficult to find a parking space,” he said before handing out 1,000 2017 calendars to the traders and patrons at the complex in Lintang Mayang Pasir 4, Bandar Bayan Baru yesterday.
Oh also raised concerns on the safety of visitors and traders at the complex.
“They should install CCTV cameras here as many complexes and public areas in Penang already have it,” he said, adding that the complex, built in 1998, also needs to be upgraded.
