KUALA LUMPUR: The 18th year of International Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition (Archidex) is expecting for 40,000 visitors compared to last year’s 34,300 visitors.
The exhibition, to be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from July 19 to 22, will feature over 550 local and international exhibitors representing leading brands in the industry from 11 countries, including Malaysia, Austria, China Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and United Kingdom as well as Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region).
This year’s installment is expected to grow from last year’s successful event and see an increase of transactions to over RM1bil.
Archidex is a key component of the annual Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF) organised by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd.
“Archidex is a strategic platform to showcase and support the best and brightest innovations of our industry for it to grow in advance,” said C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd president Datuk Vincent Lim.
Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (Pam) president Ezumi Harzani Ismail said this is an event that provides the opportunity for architects and industry specifies to explore more efficient, sustainable and cost effective design solution.
At the press conference yesterday, Ezumi said the challenges faced by architects these days are the rapidly growing technology advancement, making it hard for the architects to catch up.
“The duration to complete a project is three to four years. During this time, the market will introduced a lot of new material due to technology advancement. By the time the project is finished, the client will expect for the latest material in the market.
“The quality of the material used in a project is also very important because material uncertified by the authority can cause difficulties in the end of the day,” said Ezumi
