Urban Eden: Life blooms in the up-and-coming district north-west of greater Kuala Lumpur
ECO Grandeur was created to bring cutting-edge living concepts to the masses. This 1,400-acre integrated mixed-use township in the North-Western Corridor of the Klang Valley, was envisioned as an urban eden where people from all walks of life can enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. This effort was recently rewarded with The Earth Conscious Merit Award in the StarProperty.my Awards 2017.
In keeping with its vision statement, the Eco Grandeur master plan incorporates sustainability, a commitment to conservation, and artistic yet practical landscaping. The township boasts a coverage of more than 20% of greenery across its estates, paving the way for a variety of garden designs.
Much of the green area in the development has been devoted to rehabilitating the site’s original ecosystem. Indigenous tree and plant species have been reintroduced and healthy trees found on-site transplanted to provide habitats, food sources and shade.
A significant expanse of the green areas are occupied by a collection of parks and gardens, each with a unique design and purpose to bring people closer to nature. Some gardens appeal to the senses, some encourage physical activity and some even allow residents to cultivate vegetable gardens in allotments.
“We are passionate about realising our vision of creating—or re-creating—‘The Original Greens’,” said Eco Grandeur divisional general manager Ho Kwee Hong.
“Myths and legends are filled with stories of how our original setting is a garden, which is where nature and civilisation intersect. Today, research has shown that people reap tremendous benefits from a close connection to nature. Eco Grandeur is all about honouring this relationship between humans and nature,” she added.
Towards a Sustainable Community
Aside from this significant commitment to the environment, the Eco Grandeur master plan also addresses other paths to sustainability. It offers people from all walks of life a fulfilling lifestyle with comfortable homes in gated and guarded precincts, extensive modern amenities and a thriving commercial centre.
Also embedded in the master plan are the seeds for a sustainable and close-knit community. There are plans in the pipeline for programmes and initiatives, which include promoting recycling and composting among the residents. Initiatives to reduce fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions include an extensive network of pedestrian and bicycle paths to encourage residents to walk and cycle around the township.
Neighbourliness is encouraged by having low hedges as fencing and replacing conventional back lanes with linear gardens. Not only will these common areas help to nurture a spirit of congeniality, it provides a safe place for the neighbourhood children to play. Plans to hold regular community events will also promote a sense of unity among the residents.
An Invitation to Visit
Eco Grandeur is easily accessible, with Kuala Lumpur a comfortable drive away via the Latar Expressway. Other major highways that connect to Eco Grandeur are the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), while the West Coast Expressway (WCE) and Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) are scheduled to open in 2019.
The new Show Village is now open. There is a standing invitation to the public to come and discover the township’s first gated & guarded offerings, namely, Graham Garden and Avenham Garden, which are designed to offer spacious abodes for family living supported by a community hall, wide back-lane gardens, as well as cycling and walking paths.
