Celebrating and creating new memories with Riuh Ria Raya

Popular shopping venue Sunway Velocity Mall is transforming its Main Atrium into a traditional kampung with a modern twist in preparation for the coming month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

In line with the transformation, the mall is holding its Riuh Ria Raya campaign to celebrate the festive season, which symbolises a time of feasts, contemplation, forgiveness, homecoming and reconciliation. 

This Raya celebration, Sunway Velocity Mall’s Main Atrium will be elegantly embellished with bright pastel colours and Anthurium flowers, which symbolises happiness and abundance. Each new bloom is seen as a sign of a fresh beginning as Muslim friends and family celebrate the end of Ramadan. 

Famous graffiti artist Abdulrashade is also invited to paint a wonderful, articulated mural of Anthurium flowers. Mixed into the artwork is the scent of spices and tropical flowers to elevate the experience, enhancing the celebratory mood.

“Raya is a celebration that brings us together as a community as it serves as a time for contemplation, forgiveness, and homecoming. Although in the past few years Raya festival had to be celebrated differently, Sunway Velocity Mall hopes that this year will bloom with more opportunities, better health, and a horizon of good fortunes,” Sunway Velocity Mall senior general manager Phang Sau Lian.

Apart from the mesmerising decoration, shoppers can snap pictures with Samsung Single Take Shot at the Main Atrium to capture their memorable shopping trip at Sunway Velocity Mall. With the beautifully taken pictures, shoppers can post on their social media and hashtag #RiuhRiaRaya and #SamsungMalaysia. 

In addition, shoppers can watch the Raya artwork by artist Abdulrashade unfold at the convenience of their mobile screen when they hover their camera over the brand-new Peugeot 2008.

Sunway Velocity Mall has many performances and activities lined up on weekends like Dikir Barat, Gamelan performance, Kompang performance, Orkes Melayu, Percussion, Silat Cekak Hanafi Performance by University Malaya, Ghazal and Caklempong by UKM Budaya Malaysia, Aladdin performance by The Story Book, Instrumental performance by Yamaha, and more. The excitement will fill shoppers with glee as they dive into the festive season at the Mall.  

In preparation for Raya, shoppers also get to shop at the many booths available at the atrium, namely Malay traditional clothing, hampers, cookies, crafts and home decorations. Shoppers can also find what they need at a variety of outlets in the mall such as Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Carlo Rino, Hush Puppies, Lacoste, Braun Buffel, Marks and Spencer, Timberland, Vans, and many more. 

After an eventful day shopping at the mall, shoppers can berbuka puasa at the various halal food outlets at Sunway Velocity Mall like The Manhattan Fish Market, 4 Fingers, Ahh-Yum by Kampung Kravers, Sushi Zanmai and Memorie. 

A meal is not complete without desserts and there is no shortage of venues for such delicacies like Secret Recipe, Cat and the Fiddles, Dip N Dip, Baskin Robbins and Haagen Dazs. Adding to the fun of shopping for Raya, shoppers get to redeem gifts from three tiers when they shop at the mall from April 8 to May 8 2022. Shoppers who spend a minimum of RM200 (RM100 for HSBC credit cardholders) on two receipts are able to redeem an exclusive Abdulrashade Raya packet set while when shoppers spend RM600 (RM500 for HSBC credit cardholders) in three receipts will be able to redeem RM80 Sunway eMall Raya Vouchers. 

Furthermore, shoppers get the chance to redeem a Riuh Ria Raya bowl set when they spent RM1,500 (RM1,400 for HSBC credit cardholders) in a maximum of five receipts.
